Obituary of Raublyn Werth Hopkins

She was born in Dansville, on February 9, 1933, a daughter of the late Floyd and Edna Raub Werth. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Edward Clarke Hopkins who died October 12, 2009; a sister, Maude Wright, and a brother Martin Dykeman and a grandson Jacob Charles Green. Raublyn was raised in Dansville, and received her Masters in Education from SUNY Geneseo. She moved to the Schenectedy area in 1955. There she met her late husband, Edward, and they were married on July 1, 1956. She began her teaching career as a special education kindergarten teacher in the Schenectedy School systems, then taught at a private Nursery School in the Glenville area. Before returning to the Dansville area in 1978, she was employed for several years as the activities director for the Glendale Nursing Home in Schenectedy. Upon her return to Dansville, she became a substitute teacher for the Dansville Central School District, retiring in 1995. Raublyn was a member of the Conesus United Methodist Church, and together, with her husband Edward was very active in HAG (Historical Aircraft Group) of Geneseo. She was also a member of the Kiehle Cemetery Association; a past leader in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, a coach for little league and Cinderella softball, all in the Schenectedy area and loved to collect butterflies. Raublyn is survived by 2 sons, Kevin (Nhi) Hopkins of Sparta, Stephen Hopkins of Alfred; a Daughter, Catherine (Thomas) Green of Conesus; 3 Grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew and Zachary and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Tuesday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville, where a memorial service will be held immediately following visitation with the Reverend David Hotchkiss officiating. Interment will be in Kiehle Cemetery Sparta. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to HAG at 3489 Big Tree Lane, Geneseo, NY 14454
