There are so many fond memories I have of John. He was such fun to be around. The trips to Camp Gorton will never be forgotten. John was selfless - giving of his time and always patient with all of us. I am glad to have reconnected with him recently.

John was always an inspiration to me in Boy Scouts. He pushed me to go farther than I would have if had not been for him. In later years it was always fun to be with him at family get togethers. He will be dearly missed. Rest in peace John. My sympathies to the immediate family, it has been a long road but he is without pain and in a much better place.

Dear Carolyn, so sorry to hear of your brother's death especially so "young!" Please extend my sympathy to any family who remembers me. Thanks for you help with the altar servers when I was in Dansville. We will remember John at our masses at Holy Spirit (Webster, NY) this weekend, former associate, Fr. Fred Helfrich

John helped mold so many young men into becoming responsible, respectful adults. He had a way of reaching out to the kids who were stumbling, or maybe just didn’t fit in, and brought them into his circle through his guidance and leadership. His dedication and commitment to youth, Camp Gorton, and the Boy Scouts is his legacy and will be cherished by many.

Memories of John? We have so many countless memories that it is very difficult to elaborate on any. We met John through working with his sister Peggy, many, many years ago and we haven't lost a beat since. We were welcomed into their family and have been "family" ever since. John and his family are people who have touched our lives in so many ways that his and their memory and spirit will live forever. We love this man and will miss him eternally. Deeply saddened by his death is difficult to accept and our memories will live forever. May God bless and allow John to continue to make a difference in other's lives. Love you John!

John changed my life as a teenage boy and pushed me through to my Eagle award, which has opened doors that I had never imagined. He was a tremendos influence and I know that along with my family, a big part of who I am came from John and Troop 38.
You will be missed.

I met John while working on Camp Staff 30+ years ago. He chaired my Eagle Scout Advancement Board in 1976. I would later serve with John as an adult volunteer. He was a very personable, honest and caring man. He always had time to listen, and made friends of all he met. I and many others, are better for having know John.

Uncle John, this is sooo very hard. You were a roll model for many. We may not have been close or spoke often, but you were always loved. You will always be in my thoughts and my heart. R.I.P.

In my 30 year association with the Boy Scouts there was no scouter that I had more fun with than John--he was a great scoutmaster and the number one supporter of Camp Gorton for a very long time.
I am proud to be his friend and to have maintained contact these many years--since our scouting days.
