Sparta/Dansville- Rev. G. Calvin Sheasley 74, of Sparta passed away at home early Monday morning March 15, 2010, following a long illness.

He was born in Lock Haven, PA on June 13, 1935, a son of the late George C. and Louise (Flanigan) Sheasley Sr. He was also predeceased by his brothers David and Robert Sheasley. On June 24, 1955, in Duquesne, PA he was married to Norma (Barber) Sheasley who survives.

Cal graduated from Duquesne High School and continued onto West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV. He graduated from the Wesley Seminary in Washington, DC. He served the congregations in the following United Methodist Churches, Lorentz Charge UMC in Buckhannon, WV, Jenny Lind UMC in McKeesport, PA, Ross Avenue UMC in Wilkinsburg, PA, Christ UMC in Amherst, NY and the Dansville and Sparta Center United Methodist Churches where he served for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1997 as Pastor Emeritus of both churches.

Surviving in addition to his dear wife Norma are his children, Jack (Gabrielle) of Frankfort Germany, George (Margaret) III of Rougemont, NC, Richard (Karen) of North Edwards, CA and Luann of Dansville. He is also survived by two sisters, Luann (Wes) Smith of Monroeville, PA, Evelyn (Russell) Layton of Palm Harbor FL, a sister in-law Lois Sheasley of North Versailles, PA, eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Sheasley, Christopher (Daria) Sheasley, Nathan (Nikki) Sheasley, Rich Sheasley, Rebecca (Jared) Bridge Samantha Sheasley, Stephanie (Robert) Hulst, Chaz Perkins, Arick Perkins, Shanna (Larry) Burley and Rheanna Quinlan, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Sunday March 21, at 4:00 pm at the Dansville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Stevens and the Rev. David Hotchkiss officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
