James H. "Jimbo" Hamsher Obituary

Dansville- James H. “Jimbo” Hamsher age 82, passed away unexpectedly at home early Sunday evening July 7, 2024.


He was born in Dansville on May 16, 1942, the only child of Howard and Ruth (Gibson) Hamsher. On November 25, 2000, he was married to the former Irene Losey Hamsher, who survives.


Jim was a project engineer at the former Foster Wheeler Energy Corp in Dansville, and he continued working for the corporation as a consultant until he retired in 2014. He was a member of the Dansville United Methodist Church, a member of the Union Hose Fire Company of the Dansville volunteer fire department and a charter member of the Dansville Ambulance Company. In his free time, he enjoyed old cars, the Buffalo Bills, the Dansville Gliders. In his early years he was a little league coach for his sons and had been a teammate on the Union Hose Fast Pitch Softball Team. He was also an active member the Dansville Dogwood Festival Fireman’s Parade as an apparatus judge.


He is survived by his wife Irene, two sons Christopher (Diane) Hamsher, David (Kelly) Hamsher, two stepdaughters, Kerry (Terry Beach) Meyers, and Kelly and (Paul) Mark, seven grandchildren Stacey, Lindsey, Kristie, Tyler, Hannah, Ryan and Taylor and five great-grandchildren. brother and sisters-in-laws, Gerald Losey, Gary Losey, Larry (Linda) Losey, Susan Losey, Darlene (Robert) Torres and many lifelong friends


Family and friends may call Friday from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville, where services will be held at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in Rogersville Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Town of Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
