Irene and family, I am very sorry for your loss. Jim was a great guy and will be missed in the community. He was another of the good guys that could be depended on by all for comfort and support. He had a great sense of humor, which the world needs more of. God Bless you all.

Condolences to the Hamsher Family (Irene, Christopher and David).
Christopher and David... I can only guess that you two are both in your 50's. I wonder how much your dad shared with you about his life on Bank St.? I attended your mother and father's wedding at the Methodist Church in Geneseo as that was your mom's church as I recall. 1966? Kay Warner...
It saddens me to read the obituaries this week. Norma (she passed this week too) and Bud Maltby were the next door neighbors to you Great Grandmother (Lena Frost Gibson) and your most dear and lovely grandmother (Ruth Gibson Hamsher) and Jim. I expect that I may be the last surviving member of that close knit neighborhood of the 1950's and 1960's. I believe, but can't prove it, but David you may have been named after your grandfather David Warner? Other David's in your dad's young life were David Frost and David Smith (me). For sure Jim and Kay liked the name David. During your dad's growing up I was like his brother as I ate, played cards, and practically lived at his family home on Bank St.. I even remember when Bert Frost and Jim (of course) built that side porch. I also remember the pot belly stove that sat in the middle of the livingroom and kept us warm on cold winter evenings as we sat around the cardtable playing cards and putting together crossword puzzles. I can see Carl Wilcox installing a furnace so as to heat the house. Those were better than great years, they were wonderful years. I can also see Hilda and Bernie Frost going to and from work at FA Owen. As a matter of fact the Fosts lived right nextdoor to Lena, Ruth and Jim... I still use Aunt Emma Ebert Frost's Christmas Cookie Recipe. Your Grandmother Ruth was such a giving, loving and caring lady. Your dad would always say (at the Dogwood Festival) that he had some things for me with regard to your grandmother Ruth. It was my misfortune not to have stopped by his home. There are many more memories of Ruth, Lena and Jim that I would glady share if either of you have an interest in those early years of your DAD's life.???
Did he still play Pitch? Do Crossword Puzzles? Have and interest in Baseball... he sure loved playing in Little League? Trains... he had quite a train layout in the area outside his bedroom on the second floor of the Bank St. house. Yes, he loved cars and I expect that may have originated with his Uncle Dana Norton who worked for Dansville Chrysler Plymouth when it was owned by Clair Bateman. WOW... it surprises me to think that I remember this much of the Wonderful Hamsher family of Bank St.
I worship our Loving and Caring Lord at Asbury First United Methodist Chruch here in Rochester, NY. I will definitely authorize a gift to the Dansville United Methodist Church in your Dad's memory. I will also give a gift to the same church in dear memory of your grandmother, Ruth (she was like a second mother to me!!!) I remember her smile, hug and kiss on my cheek when I would visit her at the apts. behind Faulkner (the old hospital) House. Jim and you boys were blessed to have the care of such a giving lady. Her life was a challenge but she was a blessing to many... as I am sure your dad was to you boys.
You might want to share one of these BIBLE readings at your dad's funeral...

Hammy, we shared so many memories over the 60 years as co-workers, and good friends, all the cars rebuilding and purchasing. My house you helped rebuild, The trips to Carlisle to pursue the vendors for car stuff. We went when it was cold snow on the ground, rain, and sweltering weather. The car shows, and the Restaurants that we took our wives out on a date. After we left the plant after closing, working for FWEC as contract employees, We had so many good years together, I will miss you and all the great stories you used to tell. GOD SPEED & HEAVENLY TRAVELS, till we meet again.
