Obituary of Michael Anthony Basta

Dansville- Michael Anthony Basta age 55, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning July, 5, 2022, in the Palliative Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Dansville on March 6, 1967, a son of the late Francis and Jean (Curry) Basta. He was also predeceased by a brother James Basta. Michael was a communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville where he also attended grade school. He was a graduate of the Class of 1985 at Dansville Central School. He attended St. Vincent’s College in Pennsylvania and eventually was a graduate at St. Bonaventure University. Michael was very active in social activities throughout his life, having played in several bands in high school and college. He was MVP of the 1985 Dansville High tennis team, winning the decisive match with a clutch comeback to clinch the Livingston County Conference Championship. Michael was a communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville where he also attended grade school. He is survived by his Aunt Marie Curry of Mount Dora, FL, several cousins, and many friends. Friends may call Friday July 8, 2022, form 10:00 am to 11:30am at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville at 12:00 noon. Interment will be with his family in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
