Dalton- Jay Bernard Carmody age 67, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at his home in Dalton. He was born in Dansville, on December 8, 1954. A son of the late Bernard and Fern (Kinney) Carmody. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Deloris Castro, Kay Hamilton, Norman Carmody, John Carmody, brother-in-law Stephen Heath. On October 10, 1995, he was married to Gail (Gossage) Carmody, who survives. Jay was an assembler specialist for Getinge Medical Instruments in Henrietta, where he met Gail. He loved hunting with his family and was a big fan of NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. Jay loved spending time with his family and friends. Especially his granddaughter Shasta Carmody, whom he held a very special place in his heart. Jay treated everyone like a friend, he was loved by many and could make you laugh. He liked to joke and tease, that's how you knew he liked you. We are all better having known his beautiful soul. Surviving in addition to his wife Gail, a granddaughter, Shasta Carmody, a son, Mark (Samantha Davis) Carmody, granddaughter, Izabel Nolan, daughter in-law, Rachel (Frank Robson) Enderle, sisters, Carol Sherrod, Ellen Totman, and Betty Carmody, brothers, Jed Carmody, Joseph, and Gerald Sullivan, sister in-law Carolyn Heath, brother in-law Ralph (Pat) Gossage, several nieces, and nephews. Friends may call on Tuesday December 28, 2021, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
