Obituary of Alta C. Holmes

Dansville- Alta C. Holmes age 90, passed away Sunday afternoon November 28, 2021, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris where she had been a resident for the past few years. She was born in the Town of Sparta, on June 15, 1931, a daughter of the late Hebert and Mabel (Gilbert) Wagner. She was also predeceased by her husband Edward Holmes, a son Dennis Holmes, siblings Arlene Berglund and Richard Wagner. Alta was a former study hall monitor at the Dansville High School for many years. Loving to shop she had her days of the week where she would go to shop and visit who ever was in the store she knew. She was a longtime Den Mother for Troup 48 Cub Scouts. She enjoyed doing crafts, embroidery, and quilting. She is survived by her children, Elaine (Kenny) Frew, Kenneth Holmes, John "Tim" (Theresa) Holmes, a daughter in law Kym Holmes, siblings, Raymond (Gail) Wagner, Ralph (Virginia) Wagner. Ten grandchildren Kristin & Ashley Holmes, Melissa (Ryan) Henchen, Maria (Dan) Staub, Monica Frew, Royce (Krystal) Holmes, Rebecca Holmes, Capt. Jason Holmes, Matthew Holmes & Nathan Holmes; five great grandchildren, Christopher & Emily Henchen, Dominick Staub & Grayson Frew Humphrey, and Declan Holmes and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville, where services will be held at the completion of calling hours. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. Online memorials may be made at HindleFuneralHome.com. Masks and social distancing recommendations are encouraged.
