Dansville- Donald D. Hayton, age 89, passed away late Saturday evening on November 20, 2021, at the Taylor Health Care Facility in Bath. Don was born in West Rush, NY on June 29, 1932, a son of the late David and Mary (Klink) Hayton. On November 13, 1954, he married Phyllis Harding, who survives. They recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. Don was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict, being stationed in both Japan and Korea. He was a gasoline tank truck driver for 42 years and a former member of the West Brighton (Past Chief), Liverpool, Baldwinsville, and Henrietta Volunteer Fire Departments. After retirement, he drove trucks for various local farms and was a truck-driving instructor at BOCES. "Have you ever seen the Catskill Mountains?" Don loved telling jokes and would always show kindness to those in need. He cherished time eating breakfast in local diners, especially the local TA Travel Center truck stop. He was a member of the Good Ol' Boys Car Club and loved showing off his '66 and '68 Dodge Chargers and '58 Plymouth Belvedere at car shows. Don hunted deer most of his life and could often be found at local Euchre tournaments. Don is survived by his wife Phyllis, two daughters Suzanne (Stephen) Leven and Sally Carrier, a son Brett Hayton, a brother Kenwood "Jimmy" Hayton, four grandchildren: Rhiannon (Frank Molnar) Carrier, Seth Hayton, Christopher (Katelin) McDonald, and Jordyn Condrate, as well as two great-granddaughters, Sarah and Aurora. Friends may call Sunday, November 28, 2021, from 1 to 3 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville. Private interment with Full Military Honors will be at Bath National Cemetery.
