Obituary of Jean Marie Pickel

Dansville- Jean Marie Pickel age 93, passed away suddenly late Thursday evening October 28, 2021, at the Livingston County CNR in Mt. Morris. She was born in Hornell on September 3, 1928, the daughter of the late Harold “Cy” and Eva Kennedy Baker. When she was young, the family moved to Dansville. Jean lived most of her life in Dansville where she met and married James A. “Pick” Pickel. He predeceased her on August 1, 2010. She was also predeceased by two grandsons, Chad Mahoney and Jason Pickel and a brother Harold “Pete” Baker. Jean loved Pick, her family, and friends and many loved her. She was friendly, fun, and feisty. She enjoyed life and was always on the go anywhere anytime. Jean and Pick did a lot of traveling for Pick’s job. After his retirement, they took many trips to Las Vegas. Jean loved to go to the casinos and the many bus trips to Atlantic City. She was a member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 Ladies Auxiliary, the Town of North Dansville Democratic Committee and Voting Inspector. For many years she was a volunteer at the Senior Nutrition Center. She loved watching the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Bills games, playing bingo collecting coins and baseball cards. She is survived by her children, Robert (Stacie) Pickel, Sandra (Milan Kysor) Pickel, Pamela (James) Mahoney, and Nancy (Freeman) Denton, four grandchildren, Bridi (Bob) Kubiak, Timothy (Kelly) Hoag, Aaron (Jill) Pickel, and Brendon Pickel, two great grandchildren, Bethany and Owen Hoag, Milan’s sons, Zack and Justin Kysor. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville, NY 14437. A graveside service will be private Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery Dansville.
