Obituary of Elma Aileen Brooks

West Sparta- Elma A. Brooks age 89, passed away peacefully early Monday morning August 9, 2021, at her home in West Sparta. She was born in the Town of West Sparta on November 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Elmer and Helen (Shaw) Dennison. She was also predeceased by a brother Robert Dennison and a son in-law Russ Bradley. Elma was a member of the West Sparta United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She was also the longtime sexton of the Oak Lawn Cemetery in West Sparta. She was the West Sparta Town Clerk for numerous years, taking over for when her mother Helen retired. She was a secretary for the former Wilcox Music Center for many years. She enjoyed cooking, and especially baking, she had a sweet tooth and loved pie. Elma is survived by her daughter, Shelia (Dale Hamilton) Bradley, two sons, Daryl Brooks, and Richard (Michelle) Brooks, a brother Lowell (Connie) Dennison, grandchildren, Michelle (Billy) Masten, Rusty (Kellee) Bradley, Richelle Jacey, Ryan, and Joshua Brooks, Rebekah (Peter) Donlon, fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and her cat Hallie. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville. A funeral service will be held on Friday 11:00am at the West Sparta United Methodist Church.
