Obituary of James Ronald Hartson

Dansville- James Ronald Hartson (Jimmy, Gadget, Booger, Jimbo) passed peacefully in the Palliative Care unit at Strong Memorial Hospital on February 25, 2021 at 12:33 pm with his brother Mike at his side. Jim was an adventurous man and Jack of all trades. The middle child of Willard Leroy Hartson and Carol Ann (Dunn) Hartsons five wonderful hell raisers. Jim was always learning a new skill. If you ever needed help with any practical job he knew how to teach you or where to send you. A wiz at technology, Jim received many awards and honors in his lifetime. His passion was flying his red Cessna Skyhawk 172 and riding motorcycles. One of his last requests to his daughter Keara was to help him out of his hospital bed and get him a motorcycle so they could go racing. At his passing the skies opened up the sun began shining and the weather was perfect for flying. Jim was a member of the Dansville Central School District "Class of 1979" He is a US Marine Corp. veteran serving from 1984-1987. He was a member of the Daniel Goho Post #87 of the American Legion, the Loyal Order of the Moose #1130, the Dansville Fish & Game Club, The Dansville Pilots Association and Masonic Lodge W5. Jim fought a long battle with cancer and was brave and strong throughout. His desire to watch his grandson, Willard, grow up was his driving force. He is survived by his beautiful and equally adventurous wife Lisa (Packer), his son Robert (Jess Rogers), his daughter Keara (Andrew Widman) Grandson Willard, siblings, Tammy (Joe) Totten, Mike (Beth) Hartson, Bill (Ginnie) Hartson, Bob (Kim) Hartson and Grand pets Fin, Stan and Sunny Pie. As well as a large clan of other family and friends who could build and run a town and practically do. Whom Jim loved more then they will ever know. A private service for family will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Dansville, NY. There will be a farewell flight around 12:00 noon on Wednesday from the Dansville Airport where Jim's ashes will be flown in his plane one last time with family members (weather permitting. Look for the Red and White Cessna plane flying over the valley. In lieu of flowers or gifts please send donations to the Dansville Pilots Association.
