Scottsburg- Philip D. Lown age 83, passed away peacefully Monday evening August 27, 2012, at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia surrounded by his family. He was born in Scottsburg on June 25, 1929, the son of the late Raymond and Melissa Crane Lown. On November 27, 1952, he was married to Gladys Dangelmaier Lown who predeceased him on February 12, 1999. He was also predeceased by a son in-law Dennis Leven. Phil was a therapy aide at the former Craig Colony in Sonyea. He was also a farmer on his family farm on Powell Rd., in Sparta for many years. He was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church, and the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130 of Dansville. In his free time he enjoyed traveling, camping, carpentry and playing cards. He is survived by five daughters, Deborah Lown of Scottsburg, Sharon (John) Huette, Lisa Leven both of Dansville, Susan Lown of Livonia and Laurie Lown of Conesus, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the Scottsburg United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Scottsburg. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Scottsburg United Methodist Church.
