Obituary of Daphne Olive MacDonald

Dansville- Daphne Olive MacDonald age 93, passed away early Sunday evening April 19, 2020, at St. James Hospital in Hornell following a brief illness. She was born in London, England on September 11, 1926, the daughter of the late James and Olive (Spark) Miller. She was also predeceased by a son Raymond MacDonald and a brother Raymond Miller. Daphne was a war bride that met her husband Paul C. MacDonald during WWII while Paul served in the US Army Air Corps. They were married in England on Saturday May 12, 1945 and spent the next 68 years together. Paul predeceased her on June 13, 2013. She was a member of Royal Cross Circle at the former Kings Daughter's Home in Dansville. She enjoyed bowling, traveling to Florida in the winter months and vacationing with Paul. You could always see Paul and Daphne sitting on the porch at the homestead on Morey Ave., in Dansville, waving to those that passed by. She is survived by her extended family and friends, Shirley Gilbert and family, Harriet MacDonald, Robert MacDonald, Roger (Linda) MacDonald, the late Ralph MacDonald and their families, dear friends, Judy Marble, Gretchen (Lowell) George, Nancy Mathieu, Anita Burger and Bob (Shelly) Glover. Interment will be next to Paul in Mount Vernon Evergreen Cemetery in Springwater. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville. Memorials may be made to the Dansville Ambulance Fund, 18 Ossian St., Dansville, NY 14437, or the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd., Hornell, NY 14843.
