Wallkill/Poughkeepsie-Patricia “Patty” M. Peltier, age 54, lost her valiant fight with cancer on Monday March 9, 2020, surrounded by her family in Rochester. Patty was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on April 16, 1965 a daughter of Richard and Betty (Doerres) Dolan. She was predeceased by her Father Richard in 2020, and her husband Wayne Peltier in 2006. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes HS and graduated from Pine Plains HS where she was an accomplished race walker. She attended Alfred State College and Pace University. She was the office manager for Northwestern Mutual - Holtzhammer Agency in Newburgh. Patty was a passionate animal lover and active in cat rescue.  She worked with various community groups throughout Orange County to reduce feral cat populations and maintain the health of existing colonies.  Over her lifetime she helped spay/neuter thousands of cats.  She rescued hundreds of cats, placing many in loving homes and caring for old/sick cats herself. Patty was an active participant in the national Wreaths Across America event, the annual wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 1,600 veteran’s cemeteries in all 50 US states, at sea and abroad.  Solely through donations and volunteers, she bought and laid wreaths on the graves of every veteran in four cemeteries in the Hudson Valley. Patty was a loving, giving, caring friend.  She enjoyed helping others and could always be counted on to lend a hand, shoulder or ear.  She met her husband Wayne Peltier while working with IBM in Poughkeepsie from 1985 to 1998.  They were married in 2003 and shared mutual interests in home improvement, NASCAR racing and visiting with friends.
