I've known Dick and Betty for 20 years when they used to live down the street from us in Versailles, KY. First of all, he shocked me when he told me they were leaving to go back to New York to be nearby family. And, secondly, it was a shock to find out he had passed - I miss him more than he could imagine. He was instrumental in encouraging me to pursue a second career and continued to stay in touch after things worked out well. He had an uncanny way of making solid financial decisions with little background in finance. I had multiple opportunities to help him get his cable TV and inkjet printer working properly. We'd spend hours watching Fox TV in order to get the other side of the news. Dick didn't realize he was my mentor until he was preparing to move to New York. I think he was pleased when I told him that his advice would be used with my children and grandchildren. I guess the saddest part about all this was when he mentioned via email that Betty and he would be coming back to Versailles in May to visit. I was so looking forward to seeing him again. I had not heard from him for over a month. Little did I know he must have gotten sick and passed away. Dick had to go through some difficult health situations, but he always remained optimistic. His stories - like the one where he drove his car back to New York and found out later some of the lug nuts had come off his wheel - showed me his faith in God. Dick was a fine man and his ability to share his life made knowing him even more special.

Our deepest condolences to the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We enjoyed talking with Dick at various activities and in our neighborhood in Versailles. He was such a delight. We will miss him greatly.
