Dansville- Barbara L. Pappas "Barb" 75, passed away early Saturday morning December 7, 2013, at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester following a long illness. She was born in Nunda on August 20, 1938, a daughter of the late Max and Kathryn (Cobb) Duryea. On November 21, 1975, she was married to John Pappas, who survives. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Arnold and Donald Duryea, Carol Derrenbacher, and Kathleen Paduano. Barb Pappas was born in Nunda, NY into a large family. She loved the Lord and her church. Her love of the theater led her to the love of her life John Pappas. Her kids and grandkids were her world. Her natural talents were to create beautiful crafts that she shared with joy to all that knew her. She enjoyed nature; her favorite place to visit was Letchworth Park. She was the force that brought and kept her family together. Our promise as a family to her is to love and cherish our time together as she taught us to do. Wife of thirty eight years to John Pappas Sr., Mother of Robin Pappas, Christine (Frank) Tonkery, Bernadette Carmody, Leonard Chiappone, Tony (Carolyn) Chiappone, Lou Ann (Al) Owens, Jim (Margie) Pappas, Paul (Cindy) Pappas, John (Nancy) Pappas, and Mike Pappas. Sister of Linda Hotchkiss, Charles, Roger, Edward, Ralph, and Bruce Duryea. Grandmother of Jamie (Chris) Mackey, Zinny Pappas, James (Megan) Pappas, Robert (Heather) Tonkery, Elizabeth (Josh) Guild, Frankie Tonkery, Alexis Chiappone, Erin (Kevin) Geiger, John (Danielle) Carmody, Rachel Chiappone, Renee Chiappone, Nicholas Chiappone, Johnny (Charlene) Pappas, Johanna (David) Wemer, Stephanie (Eddie) Giron, Jared (Erica) Pappas, Sean O'Brien, Melissa Pappas, Erica Pappas and Taylor Pappas and twenty two great-grandchildren. Calling Wednesday from 11:00 to 1:00pm at the Grace Baptist Church in Dansville, where services will be held at the completion of calling hours. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
