Obituary of Helen V. Boyd
Dansville- Helen V. "Dolly" Boyd age 94, passed away early Thursday afternoon July 11, 2019, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness.
She was born in the Town of Wayland on November 9, 1924, a daughter of the late Floyd and Carrie (Schirmer) Vogel. On July 10, 1948, she was married to Clyde Boyd, who predeceased her on June 21, 2009. She was also predeceased by a son Douglas, and siblings Dorothy Wolfanger and Harold Vogel.
Dolly was a WWll US Army Veteran proudly serving her country in the medical Corp. She was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church and worked for many years in the Dansville Central School system as a secretary. At age 85, she sold her farm and moved to Pittsford to be closer to family. She lived independently in her own home until last week with her little dog Sophie, bird Peppe, and kitten Oliver.
Dolly was a kind and generous woman who loved to cook, bake, and was always willing to help care for family and friends. She loved her family and was able to be around her 6 great grandchildren as they grew and learned what being part of a loving family means.
Surviving "Dolly" are two daughters, Darby (David) Leyden, of Pittsford and Lori (Roland) Perrin, of Rochester. Four grandsons, Jason (Jennifer) Snyder, Andrew (Amy) Leyden, Christopher (Tiffani) Leyden and Timothy (Margaret) Leyden. Great grandchildren Easton, Travis, Caleb, Mackenzie, Emerson, Elle and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dansville. Interment with full military honors will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
