Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Corning, N.Y. Patricia Ann Richards Anderson, 90, formerly of Groveland, passed away Monday Dec. 3rd, after a short illness.

Born November 11, 1928 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of Wesley and Mildred Richards. She and her family moved to Holland, N.Y. in 1940. She graduated from Holland Central School, and completed Registered Nurse Training at Warsaw Hospital in Warsaw, N.Y., where she received her R.N. in 1950. She was predeceased by her parents, and her husband Stewart H. Anderson.

Her nursing career spanned more than 50 years. She was an R.N. at Dansville Memorial Hospital; for the Livingston County Health Dept. as a Public Health Nurse and at the Skilled Nursing Facility in Mount Morris. In retirement, she returned to Dansville Hospital on a per diem basis, and was a volunteer nurse for Women’s Health Services in Dansville, and at Teresa House in Geneseo, well into her eighties.

She was a 60+ year member of Sparta First Presbyterian Church in Groveland, serving in many capacities, especially as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and member of the Womens’ Society.

On July 7, 1951, she wed Stewart H. Anderson, her husband for over 65 years, until his passing December 27, 2016. Their home was the Anderson family farm in Groveland, where they raised a family as well as crops, hay, and beef cattle.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Pat loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, gardening, camping, and travelling with Stewart after their retirement.  They visited many sites in the U.S., also travelling to Europe, and Australia. Train riding and visiting historic sites were frequent activities. She sewed all her life and especially enjoyed making gifts for family and items to donate to local organizations- dozens of blankets, quilts, mittens, dolls and doll clothing sets. She also volunteered many hours at the Dansville Library, and enjoyed several years of participation in the Lions Club Minstrel Show.
