Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Monahan

Dansville- Mary E. Monahan age 92, passed away peacefully Monday morning November 19, 2018, at the home of her daughter Colleen.

She was born in Dansville on January 22, 1926, a daughter of the late James and Cecelia (Hollowell) Freas Sr. On January 4, 1945, she was married to Donald J. Monahan, who predeceased her on July 5, 2014. She was also predeceased by a daughter Sara Frost and siblings, Dolores Freas, Gertrude Roberts, Isabelle Sanders, Hazel Galton, Sarah Earner, James Jr., Frank, Robert, Edward and William Freas.

Mary was a communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's Church. She was a former employee of Blum Shoe Factory in Dansville. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, singing, bingo and playing pitch.

She is survived by her daughters Colleen (James) Cone, Mary (Jim) Yarger grandchildren Michael (Savannah) Frost, Matthew (Jenna) Frost, Erin (Michael) Kewin, Mary (Jesse) Cone, Tracy (Adam) Frost, great-grandchildren, Gavin and Dani Kewin, Emma, Kole McKinney, Skyla and Landon Frost; a son in law Mark Hainey, sister in laws Barbara Freas and Joyce (Andy) Wirth, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday November 24 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Interment will be in Greenmount cemetery, Dansville. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville. Online condolences may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com
