Obituary of Keith Stephen Barr

Dansville- Keith S. Barr age 74, passed away early Wednesday evening September 5, 2018, at the Bath VA Medical Center.

He was born in Penn Yan on March 9, 1944, a son of the late Wayne and Maude (Mortensen) Barr. He was also predeceased by a son Phillip Charles Barr, and siblings Jane Wetmore, Phillip W. Richard and Dale Barr.  On June 12, 1965, he was married to Sandra Damoth Barr who survives.

Keith was a longtime devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dansville, where he served on the Church Council, Deacon, Committee Member and Sunday School Teacher.  He had also volunteered at the Witter House and the Penn Yan Fire Department.  He was a member of the Doty Lynn Band playing the Drums.  Keith enjoyed old cars and attending cars shows.

Keith and Sandy became active with Cephas-Attica Prison Ministry and a weekly “Church Experience”, for the Witter House and Cedar Court. Keith volunteered at Food Pantry and Children’s Protective Agency. He performed as deacon to residents of nursing homes and the home-bound.

He was a US Army veteran serving from 1966 to 1968. He was a printer all his life, he had worked for Amity Press, Dansville Press, the Penn Yan Chronicle, Keith Barr Printing, retiring from RIT where he taught Graphic Design.

Surviving in addition to his wife Sandra are, a daughter Dawn Daiuto, a grandson William Maximus Daiuto and siblings John (Mary Ellen) Barr, Gary (Dorothy) Barr, Dolores Paddock, Carolyn Partridge, Joanne (Charles) Martz, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 4 pm at Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dansville.
