Obituary of Vera Ellen Detmer

Livonia/Dansville- Vera E. Detmer age 66, passed away late Thursday evening September 26, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Dansville on February 19, 1947, a daughter of the late Kenyon and Laura (Mastin) Burns. She was also predeceased by a sister Rita Ball. On May 20, 1967, she was married to Donald Detmer who survives. Vera was a beautician at Nora's Beauty Salon in Geneseo. She was a member of the Royal Neighbor's Association. In her free time she enjoyed window shopping and thrift store bargains. Vera had a wonderful upbeat personality to the end of her life. Surviving in addition to her husband Don, are two sons, Dan Detmer of Honeoye, and Matt Detmer of Livonia, two grandchildren, Ian and Rhyan Detmer, siblings, Donald (Barbara) Burns of SC, Alice (Ardeen) Johantgen of Sparta, Bonnie (Charles) Ayers of Rochester and Jane (Eric) Baker of Mumford, and several nieces and nephews. A Life Celebration gathering will be held on Saturday October 12, from 2-4 pm at the Livonia American Legion, (NYS Route 20A at Federal Road). Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
