Obituary of Cecelia M. Gross

Cecelia M. "Chick" Gross age 93, passed away early Saturday morning January 27, 2018, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris where she had been a resident for the past year.

She was born in Shinglehouse, PA on February 20, 1924, a daughter of the late Edgar and Jessie (Miller) Crandall. On September 17, 1955, she was married to George Herbert Gross, who predeceased her on July 17, 1991. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Leta Shea, Donald and Wayne DeRemer, Florence Green and Wayne Crandall.

Cecelia was a legal secretary for John Nugent Attorney in Hornell for many years. She was a foster grandparent at St. Mary's School and the Dansville Central School for many years. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, a former member of the International Retread Motorcycle Club, and the Conesus Lake Riders Club.

She is survived by four daughters, Kathlene (Bruce) Shamp, Suzanne (Bernard) Barnett, Debra (Michael) Dieter, and Dena Fox, a son Robert (Diane) Crandall, fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday Feb. 2 from 4 to 7 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville. A memorial service will be held at the Grace Baptist Church on Saturday Feb. 3 at 11:00 am. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
