Obituary of Roland E. DeMun

He was born in Leister, NY on February 15, 1927, A son of the late Jay Orlo and Ada Belle (Francis) DeMun. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Delbert Almarion DeMun and Rodeny Orlo DeMun, a sister Ruth Elizabeth Jones. On February 28, 1947, he was married to Esther Marie Pragle DeMun who survives. Roland worked as a Stock chaser, Crane and Forklift Operator for Foster Wheeler Corp. in Dansville for thirty-seven years. He was a member of the 25 year club at Foster Wheeler. He also worked at the Berwin Paper Factory and was a Farmer. He was a 55+ Year member of the IAM local # 1665. He was a Life Member, Past Chief, and Fire Police of the South Dansville Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member and past president of the Steuben County Fireman's Association. He was a 40 year member of the Dansville Moose Club. He held many titles in the Town of Dansville including, Constable, Dog Worden, and Dog Numerator. He was also a past member of the Conesus Lake Riders and the Hornell Motorcycle Club. He was an Assistant Scout leader to the Troup 73 Boy Scouts and the team assistant to the Foster Wheeler Little League team. He was a silver fox of the foxy ladies. He enjoyed bowling on the Wednesday afternoon bowling league and the Saturday night couples league at Brae Burn. Surviving in addition to his dear wife Esther are, three children, Robert (Dianne) DeMun of Andover, Carol Garrett of South Dansville, and Marie (Steve) Lawton of Montour Falls, two sisters, Barbara Hall of Binghamton and Rita Shaver of Geneseo six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
