Dolly M. Kelly of Dansville, NY, died on July 11, 2017, at the age of 86 after a long battle with Parkinson's. She was born Dolly Lou McFadden on December 1, 1930 in Brookville, PA to Jay (John) McFadden and Marie Catherine Snyder. Dolly graduated from Wellsville, NY High School in 1948, and graduated from the University of Rochester School of Nursing receiving a B.S. degree in Nursing in 1955. Dolly later received her Master's degree in Health Education from Brockport State in 1973. After working at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for a year, she served as a school nurse teacher in Holland, NY and then in Dansville, NY. In 1953, Dolly spent a summer in Mannheim, Germany, as an exchange student following WWII. In 1954, while speaking to the Dansville Rotary Club's members about her summer experience in post-war Germany, she caught the eye of William F. Kelly, Jr, President of Kelly Brothers Nurseries. They married two years later on August 18, 1956. Dolly served as School Nurse Teacher for the Dansville School District for 32 years (1953-1994), for both the Ellis B. Hyde Elementary School and Dansville Primary School. She was a member of the Livingston County Children's Protective Services Board for over 40 years, and served on the Board of Directors of Noyes Memorial Hospital for 24 years. Dolly was many things to those who knew her. She was a dedicated professional, an extraordinary mother and grandmother, and a welcoming and warm host. Her family remembers her beautifully decorated wedding cakes, her signature apple pies, and the outstanding birthday parties she threw for her grandchildren. She always went the extra mile for people, was creative, highly intelligent and well dressed. Above all she will be remembered for her inclusivity, elegance and warmth. She was highly respected by all who knew her. She will be missed. Dolly is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Bill Kelly, and their three children: Marie Sullivan of Dansville, NY; Bob Kelly (Susan) of Pacific Palisades, CA; and Patrick Kelly (Kathleen) of Rochester, NY. She has eight grandchildren: Trevor, Devon and Rhett Sullivan; Erin, Courtney and Gavin Kelly; Eileen and Will Kelly. She is predeceased by her sister, Lynda Kemp and survived by her brother Dr. Zane McFadden and close first cousin Midge Brocious, and several nieces and nephews.
