Walt and Betty have been like our parents (who have passed many years ago) when we lived in Dansville, NY. We shared so much love as we joined together in several prison ministry groups. I will never forget this great man, father and Christian brother. And we will be able to still visit with Betty.

Our heart-felt sympathy to Betty and all the Vogel Family. We will never forget Walt's (and Betty's) help during our big move to the Rickett's farm in 1980, which was only the beginning of our many shared experiences over the years. Whenever the need arose, Walt was always there to lend a hand or give friendly advice. It is certain that his talents and devoted service will be well utilized in his "new home".
Blessings and best wishes,
Tom & Donna Dwyer

I have many warm hearted neighborhood memories with Walt and Betty Vogel - from Halloween visits, to cider-making, and watching Walt teach my dad more than a thing or two about tractors, animals, and farming. My favorite memory of Walt is from watching him train his dog to heel - he walked our dead end road every day teaching that puppy with such love and patience. I admired him then and am happy knowing he is resting in peace, and probably reunited with many friends, canine and human, whom he loved!

Betty and Family,
The Vogel's have always been faithful, sharing, loyal members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. It was a joy to sing with Betty. She cleaned my teeth a few times too at Doc Calder'f office. Walt was a wonder in what he could do. I believe he and his brother built the inspirational Easter Lilly Cross that adorns St. Paul's sanctuary each Easter. Thanks to the Vogel's and their love of the Lord. Believing in the Resurrection. John 3:16.

As a neighbor and friend I had many opportunities to work with Walt. He was probably the most generous, giving person I have ever met. No matter what problem I came to him with he always took the time to not only help me solve it but teach me all he knew about the issue, including great stories from his many years of experience.
We used to make cider every year and invite friends and neighbors to come and help and take home a few gallons. One year it was cold and rainy. Most people never showed up because of the weather. Others left as soon as they got a gallon of cider. Walt was there from start to clean up and declined to take any cider home because he thought we needed it. He was always an inspiration.

Walt was such a super guy and he could fix anything. I enjoyed watching what he did for others on the Habitat houses.
Your mom was the only one who cleaned my teeth for many years. I have a wonderful needlepoint picture done by her hanging where I can see it every day.
God's blessings to all.

We remember Walt as a salt-of the earth man and one of the most giving and loving Christians we have ever known. He and Betty treated us and our two sons as family. The walls of our house are adorned with woodwork and needlepoint created by them -- a constant reminder of their faith, creativity, and care.
