Obituary of Harold Gene Gilmer Sr.

Harold G. Gilmer Sr., age 74, passed away early Monday morning October 31, 2016, in Canisteo. He was born in Wayland on September 24, 1942, a son of Howard and Lillian Hoffman Gilmer. He was predeceased by his father Howard, and a daughter Dawn Marie Gilmer. Harold was a truck driver for Doug Faye trucking in Wayland. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a US Navy veteran serving from 1960 to 1962. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Gilmer, his mother Lillian Gilmer, seven children, Harold "Jake" (Jane) Gilmer Jr., Donald Gilmer, Michael (Linda Hand) Gilmer, Kerry (Chip Stanford) Fox, Kimberly (Joe) Towner, Nicole and Ashley Farley; three brothers, Charles Van Orsdale, Ralph Van Ordsale and Edward Ryan Jr., a sister, Linda Van Orsdale, fourteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A graveside service with Full Military Honors will be held Friday at 11:00 am at Greenmount Cemetery in Dansville.
