He was born in Wayland on June 2, 1937, a son of the late Arlo and Velma (Perry) MacDonald. He was also predeceased by his first wife Betty Nell (Weber) MacDonald, her parents and mother and father in-law Genevieve and Harry Mastin. On March 12, 1965, he was married to Harriettdell (Mastin) MacDonald, who survives. Richard was a US Army veteran. He worked at Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. and later retired from the Livingston-Wyoming ARC, where he worked in facilities maintenance. He was also employed at Brae Burn Recreation where he worked for many years as a pinsetter, groundskeeper and operated "Mac's Pro Shop". Richard was a social member of the Sparta Center Volunteer Fire Department. He was the longtime Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 73 at the Lutheran Church where he was also a member. Richard and Harriett enjoyed many years of camping at Sun Valley Campground in Canaseraga, where he was known for his outdoor cooking skills over an open fire. He also enjoyed hiking, fishing, bowling and most of all spending time with family and friends. Richard had a smile and sense of humor that captured the hearts of everyone that knew him. To know him was to love him. He lived a full and happy life being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be truly missed by everyone whose life he touched. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Harriett (Mastin) MacDonald; three children, Stacy (Lee) Pyer of Stephens Mills, Geoffrey MacDonald of MD; Richard (Tracey) MacDonald of MN; eleven grandchildren, Carl Maura III, Shannon (John) Buckley, Matthew Grillo, Brandon Pyer, Eric Pyer, Amanda, Connor, Megan, Nicholas, Olivia, and Noah MacDonald, two great-granddaughters, Allyson and Maya Buckley; three brothers including his twin brother, Robert (Marge) MacDonald, Roger (Linda) MacDonald both of Sparta, and Ralph MacDonald of Dansville; a brother in-law Leonard Mastin, several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his faithful kitty companions.
