MacDonald age 94, passed away late Thursday evening June 13, 2013, at the Ontario County Nursing Home in Canandaigua, where he had been a resident for the past few weeks. He was born in the Town of Canadice, on September 2, 1918, a son of the late Wallace and Laura (Thorpe) MacDonald. He was also predeceased by his brothers Arlo, Wing, Red MacDonald and Carl Gilbert. Paul was a WWII US Army Air Corps veteran serving from 1942 to 1945. While serving in Europe he met Daphne Miller MacDonald and they were married on May 12, 1945 in England. Paul and his partner Diek Johnson owned and operated the Valley Auto Parts at the foot of the Wayland Hill for thirty-five years. He had also worked as a mechanic at the former Meeker's Garage in Dansville, he delivered school busses for Matthew's Buses of Dansville. In his free time he enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, tinkering around his home, and spending many afternoons and evenings with his wife Daphne in their recliners on the porch at home. He was a member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of The American Legion of Dansville, a member of the Valley Auto Parts Bowling team at Ideal Lanes and Brae Burn Recreation. Surviving in addition to his dear wife Daphne, are a son; Raymond (Marie) MacDonald of Canandaigua; a granddaughter, Juliana MacDonald of E. Rochester; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where a service will be held at the completion of calling hours. Interment will be private in Mt. Vernon Evergreen Cemetery in Springwater. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
