Obituary of William L. Mitchell

Dansville- William L. "Bill" Mitchell age 89, passed away late Wednesday evening February 17, 2016, at the Eastside Nursing Home in Warsaw. He was born in Dansville on February 14, 1927, a son of the late Glenn and Loretta Pfuntner Mitchell. He was also predeceased by his wife Betty M. (Thorpe) Mitchell in 2000, and siblings, Leo, James and David Mitchell. Bill was a devoted communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's Church in Dansville, where he was active with the Knights of Columbus and the Legion of Mary. He was also a longtime member of the Union Hose Company of the Dansville Fire Department. Bill was retired from the former Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran and member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion. He is survived by his son, Michael Mitchell of Sparta, a sister, Rita Johnson of CA, and brothers, Robert Mitchell, Donald Mitchell and Lawrence (Sharon) Mitchell all of Wayland, several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Interment with full military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
