Wayland/Dansville- Dorothy Wilma Anderson Mott age 87, of Wayland, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, after a brief illness surrounded by family. She was born in Penn Yan, NY on September 21, 1928, a daughter of the late F. Roger and Grace (Campbell) Johnson. She was also predeceased by her sons, James E. Pringle, Jon H. Anderson, and a brother, Donald R. Johnson. She grew up in Branchport and Penn Yan, and traveled the country extensively before settling down in Dansville, where she had resided for over fifty-five years. She loved the Thousand Island area of NY State and spent several vacations there. Dorothy worked for many years at the Blum Shoe Factory, Pappas Brother's Cleaners, and Instructor Publications, all former Dansville businesses. She was an avid painter, cat lover, and enjoyed keeping up on current events. She was a Gold Star mother, losing her oldest son James in the war in Vietnam. She is survived by a son, David W. Anderson of Janesville, WI, three daughters, Beverly (John) Barnhart of Dansville, Barbara (Dan Faulkner) Anderson of Conesus, Gerry (Rodger Maile) Shaver of N. Cohocton, with whom she resided for the past 18 months, a sister, Winifred Schenck of Geneva, a brother, Richard D. Johnson of Branchport, a special grandson, Kenneth (Michelle) Anderson of Spencerport, 12 additional grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In honor of Dorothy's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at the discretion of the family. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
