Obituary of Thomas J. Clark

Thomas J. Clark, Sr., 88 (although forever 29), survived by his wife of 66 years, Delores "Dee" Clark, children: Leslie (Stephen) Klein, Thomas J. Clark, Jr. "Toby" (Carla), Cindy (Ron) Howlett, Pamela J. Clark; grandchildren: Jennifer (Brad) Sellars, Michael Klein, Eric Howlett, Brad Howlett, Thomas J. Clark, III, Grace Clark; great-grandchildren: Harper, Hadley, and Hudson. A World War II veteran, Tom had a strong work ethic and commitment to community service. From growing up in his family's hardware store, Tom could fix anything (wiring, plumbing, wood work). He built a wooden motor boat with those skills, which his family enjoyed for years. He knew the value of hard work: at one time working three jobs to provide for his family, including for Mobil Oil and as a bus driver for the Rush Henrietta School District. He was an entrepreneur -- starting a cement block company with his best friend, Jack, and then forming the T. J. Clark Insurance Agency where he grew a business over a 40-year span. Tom volunteered for others just about every day of his life. He was a Past Chief of the West Henrietta Fire Department where he served for many years. He was committed to the Lions Club International service organization. Tom enjoyed golfing and belonged to several leagues over the years. However, his main hobby was working outdoors on the land and trails at the family home. Calling hours will be held Friday, October 23, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., in Dansville, NY. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 24, at 11 am at Dansville United Methodist Church, 5 Chestnut Avenue, Dansville. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Rush, NY.
