Nunda- Roger Daniel Duryea Sr., age 78, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away early Monday afternoon June 22, 2015, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, following a hard fight. He was born in Nunda, on November 1, 1936, a son of the late Max and Katherine (Cobb) Duryea. He was also predeceased by siblings, Kathleen Paduana, Barbara Pappas, Carol Derrenbacher, Arnold and Donald Duryea. Roger was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was an admired former employee of Akzo-Nobel Salt in Retsof for 37 years and American Rock Salt for three years. In his free time he enjoyed deer hunting and enjoying his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Emmajean (Evans) Duryea, a daughter, Charyl (Paul) DelMar, two sons, Roger Duryea, Jr., and Mark (Michele) Duryea, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and five of his eleven surviving siblings, Charles, Linda, Edward, Ralph and Bruce. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where a service will be held Thursday at 11:00 am. Interment with full military honors will be in Oakland Cemetery, Oakland, NY. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the Nunda Ambulance Corps., or the National Kidney Foundation.
