Obituary of Harold James Lathan

Dansville- Harold James Lathan 89, died Tuesday April 28 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia, where he had resided since March 10, 2015.
He was born in May 15, 1925 in Warsaw NY a son of the late Harold and Jessie (Dutton) Lathan. He was also predeceased by his brother Paul Lathan of Florida.
Harold (always known as Jim) served in the Army from 1944-1946 in the Artillery Division in Central Europe. He lived in Dansville, married Genevieve Kinney, September 19, 1944 (who predeceased him July 4, 2008). He loved farming, raising grains and sheep in his early life. He then operated the Rotary Gas Station in Dansville until he moved to Florida in 1970. He then worked for Winter Park Telephone as a Fleet Mechanic in Winter Park Florida until his retirement. He kept busy mowing lawns until he was 80 years old. He moved back up to Dansville May 13, 2014.
He is survived by his children Mary (Lanny) Burns of Dansville, James (Colleen) Lathan, and Timothy (Robin) Lathan of Debary Florida and his sister Helen Hussey of Geneseo and sister-in- law, Rose Neidermaier Lathan, of Florida. Surviving are 6 grandchildren, Kelly Shepard, Kerry Macko, Christopher Burns, Sean and Lisa Lathan and Heather Lathan and 8 great grandchildren, cousins and nieces and nephews.
There are no prior calling hours and he will be buried in DeBary Florida at a later date at the convenience of the family in Florida.
In lieu of flowers please make memorials in Jim's name to the Vincent House 310 Second Ave. Wayland NY 14572.
