My-father-next-door...to have had the great honor of being tossed around your back or being pitched to with a wiffle ball or being called "Leeter", sitting out on our front porches for quiet conversations in summer evenings, having a friend welcome me to the "right" bus home from school, skating on the ice rink you built for your kids, riding the mini-Deere tractor, playing in the barn, catching fireflies...how lucky am I. So many incredibly wonderful memories of my childhood include you, my next door neighbor. Good night and God rest, Mr. Boyd.

Don sure was a good friend to all of us. He drove bus for Eddie for years and I am sure Eddie thought of him as one of the best.
I too remember buying shoes from his store. And all the nice things Don did for Dansville. Always nice to talk to him.
My sympathy to all his family.

Please accept my condolences in the loss of your father. It was such a privilege to have known your parents and especially to have lived across the steet for more than 23 years. Those were the best years for all the Sheasley family.
Due to circumstances I will be unable to visit with you in person. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Best wishes to you all.
Sincerely, Norma Sheasley & family

Linda, I am so very sorry for the loss of your dad. I know how it feels. Not easy to get through, but now our dads are happy and, I'm sure, talking sports! Take comfort in all the wonderful memories that I am sure you have!!

To the Boyd Family:
I am saddened by your loss. I remember Don well, especially when I was a little kid living above my father's barber shop on Main Street in the late 1940s and early 1950s, only a couple of doors over from Don's shoe store. He was always kind, generous, and upbeat. Even though I was only a dumb little kid he treated me with respect. (Amazingly, he even tolerated the fact that my dog would do her "business" in front of his store with regularity.) A truly wonderful man. Please accept my deep regrets.

My brother, Donald M. Boyd was a very special brother. Don was the oldest of my 4 brothers....and one of the most special. He always called me "ZIP" right up to the end. I have a phone message from just a few years ago when he sang "Happy Birthday" to me that I will always treasure. He loved to sing and he was darn good at it (kind of like Perry Como)!! As young kids we watched him and our brother, Clyde play basketball, and baseball...I think when he was playing basketball he got the name of "Pretty Legs Boyd"~~~ He was so handsome, kind and thoughtful that everyone LOVED DON!! Our sister, Betty Boyd Sauerbier was just a year older and they always made a big deal that they were the same age for 8 days...I heard that story from both of them every year...Our family was such a close knit family....never a disagreement...just respect and love!! Rest in peace my brother~~I Love You!!

Please accept my deepest sympathy for the passing of your family loved one.
I used to wait on Mr. & Mrs. Boyd many years ago at the Coffee Cup in Dansville. Both were very pleasant. Mr. Boyd was always cheerful and pleasant as a patron. His wit and smile will surely be missed.
Prayers for peace and comfort for your family at this difficult time.

I am out of town and will not be able to express my sympathies to the family in person. Don certainly was a member of the Greatest Generation. He left me with many great memories as a boy sitting in the Shoe Store and talking sports with Don and Chalk. Then the many golf trips to Myrtle Beach and his lessons trying to cure my slice. Rest peacefully my good friend
