Obituary of Thomas Dale Howe
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dansville- Thomas Dale "Tommy" Howe, age 52, passed away peacefully at home late Friday evening, November 28, 2014, following a long illness.
Tommy was born in Warsaw on December 21, 1961, a son of Laurance D. Howe Sr., and the late Dorothy Moinard Howe. He was also predeceased by a sister, Karen Benedict, and a brother, Kenneth Howe. On December 27, 2001, he was married to Christina "Tina" Petrie Perry, who survives.
Tommy grew up in Dansville and attended Dansville Central Schools. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Perkinsville. He was a master auto mechanic for four decades. He previously worked at Foster Wheeler, Dansville Dodge, and Beach's Automotive, but he spent most of his career working with his father at Larry's and Tom's Auto Service, then as Owner and Operator of Tom's Auto Service on Sandy Hill Road in Dansville.
He was a generous person, willing to help anyone in their time of need, often making repairs on his customers' vehicles even though they may not have had the means to pay him. Tommy was a good friend to many. He was a jokester, always making everyone laugh, and he had a knack for bringing out the best in the worst situations. In his free time (when he wasn't working) he enjoyed riding snowmobiles and driving his Polaris Ranger around the property on Sandy Hill.
Surviving in addition to his wife Tina, are a son, Andrew Howe, and a daughter, Stephanie (Tom) Dimmick-Whaley, both of NC, and their mother, Melody Dimmick-Howe of Dansville; his father, Laurance D. (Priscilla) Howe Sr. of Dansville; step-children, Ted Perry of Bellehaven and Angela (Lou) Williams of Cohocton; a sister, Bonnie Howe and a brother, Laurance D. "Larry" Howe Jr., both of Dansville; his mothers-in-law, Joyce Petrie and Anna Maples; a grandson Evan Perry; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his devoted companions, TJ and Carmen.
There will be no prior calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 5, at 11:00am at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Perkinsville. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Perkinsville Fire Hall immediately following the memorial service.
