Dansville- Murray L. Crane age 82, passed away early Sunday morning February 24, 2013, at home following a short illness. He was born in Groveland on February 4, 1931, a son of the late Ray and Nina (Ridley) Crane. He was also predeceased by a grandson Daniel Lee Crane, and siblings, Carrie Irwin, Marion Crane, John and Ray Crane. On October 28, 1950, he was married to Norma Smith Crane who survives. Murray was a truck driver for Rochester Telephone Company retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Dansville United Methodist Church, the Telephone Workers Union # 1170 of Rochester, a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130 of Dansville. In his free time he enjoyed playing cards especially Euchre and Spades. Surviving in addition to his wife Norma, are two sons, David (Joan) Crane of Bow, WA, and Murray P. "Chip" Crane of Dansville, a grandson Murray David Crane, three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rachel Moore of Mt. Morris, Joyce Wester of Elmira Heights and Elizabeth Swarts of Geneseo, many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the Dansville United Methodist Church, 5 Chestnut Ave., with the Rev. James W. Stevens and Rev. David Hotchkiss officiating. Interment will be in Kiehle Cemetery Sparta.
