Obituary of Mary Lou Rex

Dansville- Mary Lou Rex age 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully Thursday morning March 27, 2014 at home. She was born in Olean on June 13, 1942, a daughter of the late Wayne Sylvester and Edna Berniece Clapp Shawl. On March 21, 1959, she was married to James “Jim” Rex, who survives. She was predeceased by a grandson Noah J. Colon-Hill Mary Lou was a longtime faithful member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon, and member of the Christian Education Committee. She was active with her husband Jim in the “Dalton Gang Square Dance Club” for many years. In her free time she enjoyed bowling, crocheting, baking, flower gardening, and being a good wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to anyone in need. She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty-five years Jim, her children; Douglas (Beverly) Rex, Cindy (Jake) Holley, Laurie (Terry) Hill, Patti (Joe) Ellis, Rose (Carter) Craig; eight grandchildren; Richard M. (Maggie) Rex, Tonya M. (Melissa) Colon-Hill, Nicole E. Holley, Wendy A. (Nate) Higgins, Shelbi L. Zigenfus, Tyler L. Craig, Tiffany L. (Michael) Potter, Lea M. Hill, Paige E. Craig, four great-grandchildren; Mercedes M. Hoffman, Zoey L. Zigenfus, Damien J. Zigenfus, siblings; Wayne (Mary) Shawl Jr., Shirley (Murray) Kyes, Marie Bryson and Margaret (Carl) Snyder, many niece and nephews, cousins and dear friends. Friends may call Sunday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 at the Dansville Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Marcia Reiff officiating. Interment will be in Rogersville Forest Lawn Cemetery, Dansville.
