Dansville-Thomas Gerard Welch age 50, passed away unexpectedly Monday March 17, 2014, in Charlotte, NC. He was born in Hornell, NY on February 10, 1964, a son of the late John and Flora (Blum) Welch. He resided in Huntersville, NC with his wife Sarah Roberts Welch. Both Tom and Sarah spent their childhoods in Dansville before moving to Rochester / Penfield. Then to their current address in Huntersville in 2003. In 1983 Tom moved to Virginia Beach, VA to work as a surveyor for Lee S. Rood and in 1984 he joined LaDieu Associates in Greece, NY for 13 years as a Civil Design Engineer supporting development of many sub-divisions in the north Greece area. Tom joined CHA based in Albany, NY in 1997, and was coming up on his 17th anniversary as a CHA employee. Tom actually began his career as a Senior Engineering Designer in the Civil group, and worked for many years in the Rochester, NY office. He moved to the Information Technology team in 1999 as an Assistant Network Administrator, and his great talent led to promotions to Regional Network Manager and finally Client Support Services Manager. Tom was also named an Associate at CHA in 2005. Tom's well known passion for the game of golf took him to international as well as domestic golf courses where he developed great relationships along the way. In 2013, Tom accomplished the golfing milestone of a double eagle at Penn National Golf club during an annual trip that has been a tradition for 25+ years. He was respected for his integrity in his professional as well as in his personal life. Tom is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sarah, six brothers and sisters, Marie (Welch) Spendlove, Michael & Susan (Price) Welch, Margaret Mary Welch, Anne (Welch) & Terrence Murphy Sr., William & Lorri (Rittenhouse) Welch, Robert James Welch. Mother in-law mom Marie (Sterner) Roberts, brother in-law Thomas & Polly (Pittman) Roberts, sisters in-law Carol (Roberts) & David Pierce, Amy (Roberts) & Dean Englert. Many nieces and nephews, Jessica (Welch) & Matthew Shea, Jeffery Welch, Bridget Wilcox & Dylan Carrier, John Wilcox & Rhiannon Carrier, TJ & Jen (Sager) Murphy, Matt Murphy, Chris Murphy, Cori (Welch) & Peter Brownell, and Easton Welch. Jennifer (Roberts) & Mike Long, Trevor & Jen (Miller) Roberts, Spencer & Katie (Gill) Roberts, Jane Roberts, Benjamin & Tami (Judge) Pierce, Nicholas & Sally (Smiley) Pierce, Derrick Englert & Katherine Doyle; four great nieces and ten great nephews, Aunts, Uncle, and many cousins. Friends may call Friday from 3:00 to 8:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will Celebrated on Saturday at 12:00 noon at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville. Online Remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
