Obituary of Gary J. Van Auken

Ossian- Gary “Bud” J. Van Auken age 66, passed away late Saturday evening March 8, 2014, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville after a short illness. He was born in Dansville on May 8, 1947, a son of the late Frank and Louise (Teachout) Van Auken. He was also predeceased by a sister Sharon Stein. On March 1, 1969, he was married to Sheila Rose Van Auken who survives. Gary and Sheila owned and operated Van Auken Farms in Ossian as a dairy farm until 2001 and switched to crop farming up until his illness forced him to retire. He was a former member of the South Dansville Grange and enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes. He is survived by his wife, Sheila (Rose) Van Auken, three sons, Christopher (Kerry) Van Auken of Lyons, Andrew (Carie) Van Auken, Chad (Keri) Van Auken both of Ossian, seven grandsons and a granddaughter; a sister in-law, Jeanne (Louie Sanchez) Kraus and a brother in-law, Gerald (Beverly) Rose, a nephew, Joseph (Cathy) Stein and several other nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 in the Dansville Presbyterian Church, 3 School St., Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
