Dansville- Betty J. Bassett age 82, passed away at home Saturday afternoon January 4, 2013, surrounded by family. She was born in the Town of Castile on October 2, 1930, a daughter of the late Thomas and Rhoda (Johnson) Gell. On December 24, 1949, she was married to William "Bill" Bassett who predeceased her on October 10, 2008. She was also predeceased by a son Daniel Bassett and siblings Violet, Shirley, Dorothy, Lillian, Marian, Ethel, Jim, Tom, Art, Dean, Melvin and Custer. Betty worked as a cook at the former Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility in Geneseo for twenty-two years retiring in 1995. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by three sons, Alex Bassett of Dansville, Gerald Bassett of Florida, Paul (Janis) Bassett of Wayland; two daughters, Pat Comardo of Mt. Morris and Sandra Bassett of Ontario, a brother Donald Andrews of Oklahoma, nineteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday from 6 - 8 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where a memorial service will follow calling hours with the Rev. James Stevens officiating.
