Obituary of Charles V. Sundlof

He was born in Penn Yan on August 13, 1922, a son of the late Charles E. and Phoebe Kennish Sundlof. On June 28, 1947, in St. Patrick's Church he was married to the former Mary Morgan, who predeceased him on April 27 2008. He was also predeceased by his sister Marge, and a grandson Andrew "Drew" Eve. Charlie retired from Rochester Telephone in 1986 working over 30 years as an installation and repair technician. He was a 50 + member of the Protective's fire company, a 55 year member of the Daniel Goho American Legion Post. Charlie and Mary delivered "Meals on Wheels" throughout the Dansville area for many years. Charlies passions in life were his family, his children, grandchildren and especially his 11 great grandchildren. Charlie also loved golf, playing daily when possible and was a 60 year member of the Brae Burn Golf Club. Charlie was a World War II veteran serving in the East Indies, New Guinea and Papua from January 1942 to September 1945. He was a Corporal in the Army Air Force where he was employed as an airplane propeller mechanic. Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne (Dennis) Boor of Dansville, four sons, Charles James (Barb) Sundlof, Richard (Judy) Sundlof, both of Dansville, David (Cheryl) Sundlof of Caledonia, and Eric (Cindy) Sundlof of Rochester. Twelve Grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and,several nieces and nephews. Friends called Friday, December 30th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where a funeral service was held at 11 am Saturday December 31st, with Robert Waltman officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com
