Dansville-Robert N. "Bob" Martin age 83 passed away late Friday evening October 7, 2011 at home. He was born in Dansville on April 6, 1928, a son of the late Nelson and Gretchen (Smith) Martin. On May 22, 1950, he was married to Ann E. (Huver) Martin who predeceased him on November 3, 2006. He was also predeceased by a brother Nelson Martin, a sister Delores Karas and step-brother Robert Dawson. Bob was a graduate of Dansville Central School and served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1949. He worked for the Dansville Police Department from 1953 to 1958 as a patrolman and door checker. From 1958 to 1989 he worked in management at Foster Wheeler Energy Corp., in Dansville as a tube shop foreman retiring in 1989. He drove LAT'S Bus from 1989 to 2001. He was a member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of The American Legion. He was also a member of the Management Club and Twenty Five Year Club at Foster Wheeler. He was forty year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130 of Dansville. Bob was a Life Member of the Protective's Company of the Dansville Fire Department and the Protective's Golf Association and the Dansville Fish and Game Club. Bob in his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He is survived by his children, Dianne E. Griese, of Lisle, NY, Daniel (Elizabeth) Martin of Wilmington, NC, Nancy (Douglas) Smith of Tulsa, OK and David (Londa) Martin of Oklahoma City, OK.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister Betty Campo of Penn Yan and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held at the completion of calling hours with the Rev. James W. Stevens officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Livingston County Hospice, 3 Murray Hill Drive, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
