Obituary of Iva M. Mease

Dansville- Iva M. Mease age 89, formerly of Ossian passed away early Friday morning September 23, 2011 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris. She was born in Dansville on January 15, 1922, a daughter of the late John and Gretchen (Grimm) Werth. On March 18, 1971, she was married to Melvin R. Mease Sr., who predeceased her on May 14, 2004. She was also predeceased by a sister Rita Bendzus. Iva was a Communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. In her free time up until about a year ago she enjoyed maintaining her lawn and gardens at her home in Ossian. She and her husband Mel would spend winters in Florida after retiring. She also enjoyed crocheting and solving crossword puzzles. Iva is survived by her children; Fred (Sue) Mahany of West Sparta, Maureen (Lynn Davis) Palmer of Rochester, Donna (Dwight) Pitts of NC, Christine (Jim) Wallace of Dansville, Deanna (Jan) Johnson of AL, and step-children, Melvin R. Mease Jr., of FL, and Gloria Carmichael of KS. A brother, Roy (Pat) Werth of Dansville, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., in Dansville. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00am at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
