Dansville- Lenwood L. "Len" Rider age 92, passed away early Friday morning July 29, 2011, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, following a short illness. He was born in Hughesville, Pennsylvania on April 22, 1919, a son of the late Milton and Mary (Harriman) Rider. On September 1, 1957, he was married to Mable (Bovee) Rider, who predeceased him on October 24, 1993. He was also predeceased by an infant son Mike, his siblings, Alta Swisher, Oscar, Donald and Kenneth Rider. Len was a pressman and printer at the former FA Owen Publishing Company and later Dansville Press retiring in 1980 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Phoenix Lodge # 115 of the F & AM and a member of the Scottish Rites and Royal Arch Mason. He was also a member of the Deborah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was President of the White Sabers Drum and Bugle for over ten years during which they were New York State Champions from 1972 to 1976. He also served on the Boy Scout Council at Troup 49 sponsored by St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his children, Richard (Lee Ann) Rider of Sparta, Joanne (Mike Lindsey) Hyson of Lakeville, Joseph (Lisa Giudici) Rider of Rochester, Sarah (Carl) Wagner of Dansville and Linwood Rider; a sister Meg Rundle on IN; a brother James Rider of Perry; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday August 6 at 10:30 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dansville. Interment will be in Kiehle Cemetery in Sparta. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., in Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
