Obituary of Charles Fredrick Neetz

Dansville- Charles Fredrick Neetz 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday evening June 9, 2011, at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia.
Charles was born on October 20, 1927, in Swain, NY and was the eldest son of Fredrick and Elsie (Boyd) Neetz. He was also predeceased by his first wife Phyllis (Hubbard) Neetz, and a brother Leonard Neetz. On April 25, 1980, he was married to Phyllis (Oas) Neetz, who survives.
He was a graduate of the Canaseraga School and in his younger years he was employed as a track man for the Erie, Pittsburg, Shawmut and Northern Railroads. He had also worked at the former Nunda Casket Company. He retired from the former Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation in Dansville in 1990 as an assembly welder and security guard after 38 years of service.
Charles was a Corporal in the US Army during WW II. During his lifetime he was a member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of The American Legion, the Canaseraga Grange # 1268, and the Loyal Order of the Moose #1130 of Dansville. Charles was a faithful Christian and member of the Dansville Free Methodist Church. He was a well known beekeeper and sold honey from his former home on McCurdy Rd., in Ossian. He loved to work with his hands gardening and raising animals on the land he farmed. He enjoyed an afternoon of playing his favorite card game "Pitch" with his buddies at the Dansville Fish and Game Club.
Charles was a loving family man who loved all of his children and grandchildren. He was a man that was always humble, loving and peaceable with a quiet strength that he walked with in all the days of his life. Charles will always be remembered and loved by his family. We will rejoice in knowing he is with our Lord for eternity.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 31 years Phyllis, are, his children, Cheryl (Kirk) Goodwin and Yvonne (John) Heiman of Dansville, Lisa (Graham) Kingham of Dothan, AL, Deborah (Steve) Lemen of Dansville, Douglas (Juliet) Shepard of Sarasota, FL, his grandchildren, Tracy (Ken) Bauer, Peter Goodwin, Shawn (Margie Osborn) Fitzpatrick, Joshua Fitzpatrick, Chandler and Sydney Shepard, great-grandchildren, Colin Werth, Trent, Alyssa, and Zandrah Fitzpatrick, Ethan Bauer, sister in-law Jeannette Neetz of Canaseraga, Brothers in-law Jim (Gayle) Oas of Wayland, Tom (Linda) Oas of Wayland, Don (Alma) Oas of Naples and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Dansville Free Methodist Church on Friday June 17 at 11:00am. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery Dansville. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Dansville Free Methodist Church, 25 Franklin St., Dansville, NY 14437, or the Activity fund at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home, 6131 Big Tree Rd., Livonia, NY 14487.
