Dansville- Dorothy A. McLean age 87, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon May 6, 2011, at her home in Dansville with her children by her side. She was born in Dalton, on July 4, 1923, a daughter of the late Floyd and Mildred (Lee) Dorey. She was also predeceased by her husband, Stanley W. McLean Sr., and siblings, Edith Hathaway, Betty Sacker, Eva Young, Lawrence and Alva Dorey. Dorothy spent many years as a cook starting at Foster Wheeler Corp., Dansville Elem. School, and retiring from Craig Developmental Ctr. in 1981. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved listening to and collecting Country/Western Music and hummingbird figurines. She enjoyed being outside during the summer planting and tending to her flowers or just sitting on the porch. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her as touched many lives with her sense of humor and bright outlook on life. Dorothy is survived by her children, Mary Anne (Michael) Allen of Dansville, Stanley (Elizabeth) McLean Jr., Barry McLean, both of NC, and Mike (Rayatta) McLean of Rochester, a sister Alice Lisjack of Buffalo, two brothers, Robert (Rosemary) Dorey and Gordon Dorey both of AZ, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 11:00 to 1:00 pm Monday at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held at the completion of calling hours with the Rev. James W. Stevens officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Scottsburg. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
