Dansville- Alfred C. "Al" Luce age 89 of Ossian St., in Dansville, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning August 2, 2012 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. He was born in the Town of Corydon, PA on November 14, 1922, a son of the late Charles and Frieda (Hollister) Luce. He was predeceased by his wife Berniece (Brown) Luce on May 24, 1996, and a sister June Luce. Al was a US Navy WWII Veteran and member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Livingston County Forty and Eight, a life member of the Little Valley VFW Post, the James H. Jackson Hose Company of the Dansville Fire Department, the Twenty Five year club at Foster Wheeler, the IAM # 1665 and the Dansville Fish & Game Club. He was an avid bowler and bowled on the Monday Night League at Brae Burn and the Foster Wheeler Bowling League. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and playing pitch on Wednesday afternoons with his friends at the Fish and Game Club. Al retired from Foster Wheeler in 1985 as the packing leader after thirty-two years of service. He is survived by three sons, David (Karen) Luce and Dale (Sandra) Luce both of Dansville and Dean Luce of Florida, a brother Gary (Sharon) Luce of Little Valley, a sister Eleanor Ruth of MS, a brother in-law Roy Brown of MS, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren three nieces and a nephew. Friends may call Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held Monday at 11:00 am with the Rev. James Stevens officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Greenmount Cemetery Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dansville Ambulance Fund, the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion or the Dansville Fire Department
