Ossian- Howard M. Scott age 86, passed away early Thursday morning March 31, 2011 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
He was born in the Town of Hornellsville on August 14, 1924, a son or the late Graham and Emilie (Isler) Scott. He was also predeceased by a brother Thomas Scott. On June 8, 1951, he was married to Margaret "Peggy" (Schneider) Scott who survives.
Howard was graduate of RIT in Rochester and had worked for Eastman Kodak Company for twenty-eight years; he retired in 1983 as a Specialist Tool and Die maker. After retirement Howard enjoyed sheep farming and working in his machine shop on the family farm in Ossian. He was a US Army Air Corps. WW II veteran.
He was very active in Republican politics serving as on the Livingston County and Town of Ossian Republican Committees and the Livingston County Board of Elections. He had also served on the Town of Ossian Planning Board and was the longtime chairman of the Zoning Board. While Howard and Peggy lived in Rochester he was a Republican Committeeman for the 19th Ward.
Howard is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Scott of Ossian, a granddaughter, Joy (Jeff) Ladue and son Noah of Greece, two daughters, Suzanne Povosky, of Hornell and Catherine Emmerick of TX, six additional grandchildren, four additional great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 main St., in Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
