Born Nov. 17, 1941 embraced by God on February 10, 2011, at age 69.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Brooks) Makowski,
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack & Gail Brooks of Rochester,
N.Y.; nieces, Mary (Ed) Durkin of Walworth, N.Y., grand nephew Ed and
grand niece Molly; Jeanne (Matt) Schwasman of Rush, N.Y., grand nephews
Zach and Nicholas and grand niece, Caitie; Kelly (Michael) Paulina of
Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; grand nephews Mikey and Alex, grand niece
Mary Katherine; and Kristin (Ken) Warren of Rochester, N.Y., grand
nephew Jack and grand nieces Emily and Sarah. Also surviving is his
faithful companion, Patience. Peter was predeceased by his parents; Leo
& Victoria and twin brother, Paul.
Peter retired from the City of Rochester as a Lieutenant on the
Rochester Fire Department. He took pride in his profession having
received commendations for his quick thinking and thoroughness. Prior
to the Rochester Fire Department, he was a Rochester Police Officer.
Throughout his life he was a motorcycle enthusiast having raced
motorcycles and road riding. In the early 70's he owned and operated
Echo Valley Speedway (a motocross track) in Conesus, N.Y. He also
enjoyed snowmobiling, flying his plane, hunting and landscaping his
property. He loved reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards, football
and Nascar. His love of animals brought him to the Humane Society of
Livingston County as a volunteer subsequently holding various positions
within the organization.
His quick wit and sense of humor prevailed during life's obstacles and
will be missed by many.
